Finally, one video showing the entire build process from the cutting of the first tree to the laying of the last floor board — no food, no talking, no visitors, just carpentry, bushcraft, timber framing, blood, sweat and tears.
My end goal is to have an off grid, primitive wilderness homestead, where I can practice primitive technology, bushcraft and traditional skills in an effort to become as completely self reliant as possible in this day and age.
In late April, I cut the first balsam fir tree down on the property near Algonquin Park, Ontario, Canada. Next, from June until August, I collected all of the building materials and fabricated the cabin using saddle notches in the corners. I cleared the land in August, laid down gravel for a pad and began erecting the off grid log cabin. By September, the walls were done and I started on the roof framing in October.
In November, I burned the roof boards with shou sugi ban, an ancient Japanese technique for preserving wood. Against convention, I installed the roof in board and batten fashion, using my roofing background to come up with techniques to keep the cabin watertight.
Next, I moved inside where I installed a Vermont Castings wood stove on top of a limestone flagstone floor, which extended from the doorway to the center of the cabin underneath the fireplace.
For the rest of the floor, I framed it using 2x4 and 2x6 red pine boards and then installed 2x6x10 boards, which I burned using the same shou sugi ban technique.
Now in December, I chinked the walls with moss and clay and have been spending a lot of time in the cabin, starting rustic furniture made with materials from the surrounding forest.

У меня отдельного сюжета про разметку нет. В этом ничего сложного. Если есть теодолит, то он и углы позволяет отмерить, стоя на одной точке. Я для разметки использовал обыкновенную капроновую нить, покупал в садовых товарах. И рулетку 5 и 10 метров. Длину нити брать с запасом по три метра с каждой стороны. Привязать к каждому концу палку, воткнуть в землю. Получится прямая — это и будет граница Вашей первой стены. А дальше дело техники. Отмеряете прямые углы, пользуясь правилом: сумма квартатов длин сторон треугольника равна квадрату гипотенузы. Кому лень считать — отмеряете из угла в одну сторону 4 метра, в перпендикулярном направлении 3 метра. Это две стороны треугольника, гипотенуза которого равна 5 метрам. Всё. У Вас прямой угол.
Расчёт минимальной высоты фундамента над землёй производился исходя из того, что к высоте земли добавится около 10 см отмостки, и 20 см — это защита от брызг падающего на отмостку дождя. У меня получилось 30 см.
Находите, в каком углу фундамента у Вас самая высокая точка грунта. Определившись с подъёмом фундамента в этом углу, можно определить высоту подъёма в остальных точках (как правило, в углах фундамента). Для небольших протяжённостей можно использовать водяной уровень. У меня с ним не задалось с самого начала — шланг пропускал воду, уровень постоянно менялся. С нивелиром всё просто. Устанавливаете его жёстко на штативе, ставите линейку в углу, где самая высокая точка грунта. Я вместо специальной линейки использовал деревянную рейку с прикреплённой к ней лентой от развалившейся рулетки. Сразу видно значение в сантиметрах. Ставите её на землю, смотрите в нивелир. По центральной горизонтальной линии видите значение в сантиметрах от уровня земли до этой самой центральной линии. Записываете. Ставите линейку во второй угол. Настраиваете фокус нивелира, чтобы увидеть цифры. Записываете. И так по всех углах. Вычитая из получившихся значений самое маленькое, получаете перепад высот на участке в каждой точке (в углах фундамента). И всё. Выставляя опалубку в горизонт, ставите линейку прямо на опалубку, везде должно быть одно и то же значение.

Я армировал так: сверху и снизу силовая арматура по три прута — два по краям и один посередине. Кроме того, есть ещё конструктивная арматура — это между верхним и нижним слоем — три ряда, через 40 см.
Марка арматуры А500С. Диаметр 16мм. Диаметр вертикальной арматуры — 10мм.
