Out Bushcrafting and hiking off trail for two days in the snow. First night I slept a couple hours at a time then went up and tended to the fire. Had to go get another log in the early hours and got some nice shot at the night sky with the moon etc. -10 celsius. I love the air when its this cold. If you wonder why I put snow on the saw handle: it froze to ice during the night: Check out the different performance sawing with it day one and two!
ATTENTION: Being under an uproot can be very dangerous. Never take shelter under a fresh uproot if your life doesnt depend on getting out of the wind etc. It can be very dangerous as they can snap shut again if the tree breaks and weight balance shift. This was an old one thats been like this for more than a year but its still not something I advise people to do. Being around widow makers, even though not directly above, is never 100% safe. It is a calculated risk. As everything is really but sometimes we forget that. A snow bivouac for example. They can be very dangerous if the air intake in the roof gets blocked by snow when you sleep etc. Not to speak about the car ride to site on icy roads alone in the wild without cell phone coverage. In short: This is an emergency shelter. Not to be tried for fun, even though I did it, it was my choice alone. Thanks for watching!

Из-за несвоевременной поставки стройматериала строительство затянулось на долгие месяцы (планировал начать и закончить в мае). Брусовой дом 4*6м. из бруса на 15 был построен официально, для себя, для круглогодичного использования.
В планах официально провести электричество(свет уже был бы, если бы местная администрация не накосячила).
Печь прошла все испытания на 5 и в морозы (-25-29) топилась раз в 4 часа сухими лиственничными дровами (по три полена), в доме при этом ходил в трусах и постоянно проветривал из-за жары.
Строить нужно было в «теплый угол», а не идти на поводу у местных помощников, тогда на меня давили и сломили мнение, что скажешь… дурак, что поддался, хотя знал как надо и как лучше («в теплый угол»). На будущее… если и буду строить, то исключительно один и по своим соображения.
Домом очень доволен. Возможно, если найду другое место, дом перевезу. Строительство финансировалось из собственных накоплений и обошлось около 100К. руб. (без учета стоимости инструмента). Стройка наемными рабочими обошлась бы в 2-3 раза дороже.

Имитация кирпичной кладки на кухне, смотрится очень стильно и красиво. Для изготовления кирпичиков мы использовали обычный строительный гипс. Форму изготовили своими руками из силикона и крахмала.
Декоративный кирпич из гипса, это пожалуй лучшее решение для отделки стены в современном интерьере. Так же данная технология выгодна своей стоимостью. Такую стенку можно легко сделать своими руками без особого труда.

Finally, one video showing the entire build process from the cutting of the first tree to the laying of the last floor board — no food, no talking, no visitors, just carpentry, bushcraft, timber framing, blood, sweat and tears.
My end goal is to have an off grid, primitive wilderness homestead, where I can practice primitive technology, bushcraft and traditional skills in an effort to become as completely self reliant as possible in this day and age.
In late April, I cut the first balsam fir tree down on the property near Algonquin Park, Ontario, Canada. Next, from June until August, I collected all of the building materials and fabricated the cabin using saddle notches in the corners. I cleared the land in August, laid down gravel for a pad and began erecting the off grid log cabin. By September, the walls were done and I started on the roof framing in October.
In November, I burned the roof boards with shou sugi ban, an ancient Japanese technique for preserving wood. Against convention, I installed the roof in board and batten fashion, using my roofing background to come up with techniques to keep the cabin watertight.
Next, I moved inside where I installed a Vermont Castings wood stove on top of a limestone flagstone floor, which extended from the doorway to the center of the cabin underneath the fireplace.
For the rest of the floor, I framed it using 2x4 and 2x6 red pine boards and then installed 2x6x10 boards, which I burned using the same shou sugi ban technique.
Now in December, I chinked the walls with moss and clay and have been spending a lot of time in the cabin, starting rustic furniture made with materials from the surrounding forest.
