Here is the FULL TIMELAPSE of Jake Mace and NicHolistic Yurt Build in the Rain Forest of Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada. We are living on 8 acres off the grid in the great bear rainforest. This Yurt video shows us clearing the land, building the yurt platform, and building a 30 diameter yurt from Pacific Yurts. Not all tents are created equal, and the domed alachigh (yurts) of the Shahsavan nomads must be some of the most sophisticated on Earth. The whole structure is pre-tensioned before the felt cover is placed, which gives an incredible rigidity to the tent, able to withstand the gales that blow across their high mountain landscape. The Shahsavan are some of the worlds most renowned weavers, and their beautiful straps and rugs adorn the tents and make them like palaces fit for an Iranian prince.
The Shahsavan formed in the eighteenth century from a confederation of tribes who occupied a region that spanned the Iran/Azarbaijan border. In 1884 the border was closed by the Russians and the tribe split in two, part in Iran and part in Azarbaijan. Since then the nomads have had to work hard to try to hold onto their lands and traditional way of life. This was filmed on the Iranian side of the border.

Heres my A Frame I built with my friends in 2018-2019! Its a weekend getaway with a separate outhouse (before everyone asks). Its mega cozy and has served as a great spot to glamp at this past spring and summer! There are a series of videos with each step broken down, for anyone interested!

The outside/exterior of the dovetail log cabin is complete!
There will still be some minor things to do on the outside, and lots and lots of work left to do on the inside, but the exterior is basically complete!
This video shows the process from milling the first log, to putting on the finishing pieces of window trim this fall — and everything in between. It has been a fun and rewarding experience seeing the cabin take shape.

I will continue to work on the interior of the cabin, as well as a small woodshed and toolshed. I also have some other project and adventure ideas as well.
